*An election will be held on May 1, 2021, for terms ending in May 2021. All offices are for a two-year term.
The City of Elkhart is a general law city. City Council meetings are held on the first Monday of each month beginning at 6:00 p.m.
QUALIFICATIONS TO RUN FOR MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election.
- Must not have been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be: (a) totally mentally incapacitated; or (b) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.
- Must have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the City of Elkhart for six months.
- Must be registered voter in the territory from which the office is elected.

FILING PERIOD
An application for a place on the ballot can be obtained from the Office of the City Secretary and
submitted between January 13, 2021, and February 12, 2021. Polling locations will
be posted as they are determined.
